THE SYSTEM
R/X Automation Solutions’ BulkMaster™ is a semiautomatic prescription drug bulk-up system designed to discharge and process the contents of fully-closed bottles at a high speed. The proven four-position rotary dial design of the BulkMaster™ provides a process control that is quick and clean. The BulkMaster™ is compatible with process protocols used in pharmaceutical manufacturing, mail order pharmacies, high volume drug repackaging facilities and drug distribution centers.
BOTTLE SIZES
The BulkMaster™ is designed to open a wide range of HDPE bottle sizes and shapes. Bottle operating range is from 0.75” up to 4.5” in diameter and heights from 1.25” up to 10” tall. Round, square, oval and rectangular shapes can be opened with the BulkMaster™. Certain bottles tightly packed by the drug manufacturer may not be suitable for processing on the BulkMaster™.
PROCESS METHODOLOGY
The operator manually loads a bottle into the bottle gripper “position one” of the four-position rotary dial. The operator activates the index control, and the rotary dial indexes 90 degrees, presenting the bottle at the bottle opening automation. At this point the bottle gripper “position two” is presented to the operator, and another bottle is loaded. This process is repeated for bottle gripper “positions three” & “four”. Once the fourth bottle is loaded and the index control is activated, the first bottle that was loaded is presented back to the operator with the bottom removed. The operator removes the opened bottle, loads an unopened bottle and then manually dumps the contents of the opened bottle into a bulk pill receiving receptacle or onto the optional inspection conveyor.
